Currently in the Dominican Republic, a lack of educational and vocational opportunities have led many local families to struggle with economic hardship and a continued cycle of poverty. As a result, youth are unable to envision a different, more successful, future for themselves. Charlie’s Foundation, a Canadian and Dominican non-profit organization, is working to connect youth with the wider world in an effort to improve their future career prospects. By supplementing an underfunded and overcrowded education system, they combine English lessons with tennis instruction with the belief that the power of sport will motivate, challenge and inspire. Liesse Chocolatier is proud to support Charlie’s Foundation through the donation of a portion of our profits from the sale of our Fairtrade Collection.
